Richard lives in the beautiful city of Latvia – Kuldiga.
Richard is a child with special needs since birth. Mother’s story: I had a very hard birth. I was expecting a healthy guy. At birth, Richard did not breathe for 15 minutes. The doctors fought for his life.
Richard’s diagnoses are Children’s Cerebral palsy, epilepsy, high muscle tone- spasticity. Medications against epilepsy are used on a daily basis. For two years ,I fed Rich through a gastrostomy because he didn’t gain weight, but at the moment ,weight is appropriate for his age.
Richard attends special school, but during summer he attended the day centre and various classes.
He likes dogs, walks along the sea, forest and driving by car. And this year I found that he really likes festive fireworks.
Richard can’t walk, sit and eat, he can’t talk and  he moves in a wheelchair.   But -as a mom –  I’m trying to understand what he wants.
To reduce muscle tone, Ricard needs physiotherapy and  ergotherapy. As well as I would be grateful if at least once per month I could hire assistant  who would stay with Ricard and  I could take a breath, take care of myself and get a good night’s sleep. I have to wake up every two hours, because I have to move and turn Ricard. He can’t do it by himself. Now we both live in an old house. Recently my dad made a ramp to get into the house, but still living conditions are not really suitable – we don’t have city canalization , we don’t have a bath or shower –  we are visiting friends to get showered.
